Four kids make a mysterious discovery on their home planet that lands them lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Jude Law in “Skeleton Crew” and more stars from a galaxy far, far away. The holographic circus that entertains Neil’s younger siblings is the same one Chewbacca’s family watches in the infamous The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978). He’s in the cast of Crazy Cartoon AniMat: Silly Old Deadly Bear (2022). I watched the first two episodes, and while there’s a clear attempt to make a Goonies in Space show, what’s wrong with that? It’s a completely different take on the story that exists in the Star Wars universe. I loved the look and feel of the suburban town in this world because we’ve never seen it before. The town they came from reminded me more of the hood from E.T. than anything we’ve seen recently. The four main characters are typical but likable, each with a clearly defined role in the group, and the actors play them well. The pirate vibe isn't necessarily something we've seen before, it adds a bit of a sinister element and an air of danger. If this were an '80s movie, it would fit perfectly. So far, I'm loving it for the new storytelling elements in the Star Wars universe, the nostalgic nods to the movies from my childhood, and the fact that I can share this Star Wars experience with my kids.
