The game begins with a brief recap of events from previous games in the series, and there is some news: the Umbrella Corporation is announced bankrupt; it starred Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Albert Wesker, who are related to the Umbrella Chronicles. A protagonist of RE4 is Leon S. Kennedy, a survivor of Raccoon City, now working as a secret agent for an American government. Leon must investigate the suspicion of Ashley Graham, the daughter of the president, that he was kidnapped and is apparently in a remote village in Spain. Leon is assisted by Ingrid Hunnigan, who provides information on the ground.
